I am thrilled to announce that as of last night, donations for this project totaled $1620.12! Thank you so much to everyone who donated, and to those who spread the word on blogs and Facebook. What’s next? Well, the funds will be received in Addis by the end of July. The plan is for the equipment to be purchased in August, and delivered to Amacho Wato school at the beginning of September. I wish I could be there to see it!
One little note: someone had asked about the cost of using Paypal. It’s true that Paypal charges a percentage fee for using their service, and I don’t qualify for the non-profit rate! However, I am covering the costs around the administration and transfer of money raised for this project (eg paypal charges, wiring fees, etc) so those costs are not being deducted from the donations received.
Oh, and if you wanted to donate but just didn’t get around to it in time? Never fear, there is another project on the horizon….. stay tuned.
